Wantable Makeup Box│October 2013

I love discovering new monthly beauty subscription boxes, so when the opportunity arose to try out a Wantable Box, I couldn't resist! Wantable is a pretty interesting subscription service for a couple of reasons. For starters, one has the freedom to choose what kind of box they want to receive out of the categories offered. Along with the Makeup Box (contains 4-5 full size premium beauty products), there is an Accessories Box (contains 3-4 pieces of boutique jewelry), an Intimates Box (contains 4-5 essentials), and there is currently a limited edition Halloween Makeup Box up for grabs, which contains products that will surely come in handy when coming up with Halloween looks.

What I think really gives Wantable it's unique flair is their questionnaire. The questionnaire let's you customize the sort of items that you want to receive, and the ones you don't. This helps Wantable learn more about your style. You are more than likely to receive products on your "love" list, and you will never receive products on your "dislike" list. Pretty neat, huh?

A subscription is $36 a month. You can easily skip a month, or cancel anytime. You also have the option to buy a single box for $40 if subscriptions aren't your thing. And if you don't happen to love your box, Wantable offers free returns.

Face Stockholm  Lipstick in Pleasant: I love lipsticks, so I was happy to see one included in this box. Pleasant is a coral pink that contains small, golden shimmers throughout. Although I like the color, I am not particularly fond of the shimmers. They are hard to miss on the lips, and I feel like they sort of give the lipstick an outdated feel with the golden sheen they impart. I can definitely make this work, though. I just have to apply this lip color with a light hand so the shimmers are subdued a little. This lip color contains a smooth formula, is long lasting, and it has a rich color payoff. Pleasant doesn't convey "autumn" to me, so I think I am going to reserve this one for the spring and summer months. (Retail Value: $22)

Besame Cosmetics  Lip Glaze in Black Liquorice: This creamy burgundy lip gloss is perfect for the fall and winter season. It has a gorgeous color payoff, it's super shiny, and I love that it's not sticky or heavy. This gloss holds it's own when sported by itself, but it looks especially scrumptious when layered over other similar lip colors. There is a strong licorice fragrance to this gloss, and although it took some getting used to, it eventually grew on me. (Retail Value: $20)

Darla Makeup ■ Peepers Eyeshadow in Baby Dot: I can never resist a good neutral eyeshadow, and this one from Darla Makeup is no exception. The golden bronze hue is right up my alley, and the fine shimmers add a glam and brightening effect. I love the texture of this shadow. It's amazingly smooth, silky, and the pigmentation is really nice. This eyeshadow is 100% vegan, cruelty free, and free from ingredients like parabens, petroleum, fragrance, carcinogens, and talc. Love! (Retail Value: $18)

Lise Watier ■ Light Cap Nail Lacquer in Chic Tartan: I have been accumulating quite the number of grey nail colors lately. This one contains a built in illuminating light in the cap, to help with a more precise and accurate application. Interesting. I haven't given Chic Tartan a try yet, but the formula looks very creamy and smooth. (Retail Value: $13)

Japonesque ■ Travel Smudger Brush: I love this smudger brush! The travel size is just perfect to put in your makeup bag when you are on the go. The small, dense brush hairs are the perfect shape to effortlessly smudge cream and powder eye products on the lash lines and outer corners, for that smokey effect. (Retail Value: $14.50)

Lise Watier  Ombre Souffle Supreme: I also received a couple of Lise Watier's Ombre Souffle Supreme eyeshadow samples. The sample shades are Sunrise Peach, and Vert Enchante. These look gorgeous, and I can't wait to try them. (Retail Value: $0)

Overall
I was really impressed with the October Wantable Makeup Box. I love that I was introduced to so many higher end brands that were new to me, and that I am not familiar with. My favorites items in the box were the lip gloss, eyeshadow, and smudger brush. Wantable may be a little on the pricier side when it comes to subscription boxes, but when I add up the total retail value of all the full sized products I received in my box ($87.50), it greatly exceeds the $36 cost of the box (or $40 if it's a one time purchase). If you love premium higher end quality items, I think Wantable is a great subscription to look into. I am definitely going to consider subscribing!

What do you all think of Wantable?
