E.L.F. Studio: Maximum Coverage Concealer

When it comes to concealers, I think E.L.F. has a few good ones that have become cult favorites for many. In fact, one of my most favorite concealers is from E.L.F. Their Cover Everything Concealer (review here) has been my go-to ever since I first tried it. So, when I saw that E.L.F. released their new Maximum Coverage Concealer ($3.00), I couldn't resist giving it a go. It looked too good to pass up and since I have oily skin, the fact that this concealer doesn't contain any oils is a major bonus! While looking at the six available color options on the E.L.F. website, I couldn't decide between two possible shade matches for my NC25 skin tone. So ultimately, I ended up purchasing this concealer in the colors sand, and nude. Turns out that nude is the perfect match for me. It has just the right amount of warm yellow undertones that I look for in concealers. Sand is much cooler, and it seems more suited for those who have fair-light skin tones, with both neutral and pink undertones.

First of all, I love the tube packaging. It's sleek, travel-friendly, hygienic, and the small opening is easy to control, dispensing just the perfect amount of product every time. I also want to mention how nice it is that on the front of the cardboard packaging, there is a description on the bottom right, that describes the particular skin tone that the concealer would suit best. Although, I think it would have been much more helpful if the descriptions would have been on the website, instead. It would surely make choosing shades a little easier for everyone.

E.L.F. totes this concealer as being able to cover tattoos, blemishes, birthmarks, dark circles, and more. I initially purchased this concealer for concealing my unruly, dark under eye circles. And I have to say, it does a fabulous job at that. For my dark circles, I find that two layers yields the preferred amount of coverage that I seek. This concealer does layer beautifully, so it will never look or feel heavy and cakey. What really blows me away though is that the concealer does not settle into the fine lines under my eye area, nor does it enhance them. Love!

I don't normally use concealer on blemishes or on the acne scars on my face-I find that foundation is sufficient enough for me, as I don't like too much product on my face. But out of curiosity, I decided to see just how well this concealer could cover such imperfections. I applied a bit of the concealer on an active red blemish, as well as on a few acne scars, and it provided pretty natural looking, satisfactory results. On my blemish it neutralized the red, and my acne scars were blurred out. Not bad!

The creamy texture of this product feels lightweight and moisturizing on the skin, and it's truly a pleasure to work with. It applies and blends like a dream, with very minimal effort. After application, I am left with a seamless looking coverage, that looks very natural, and lasts all day-with a setting powder applied atop, of course.

Overall: I am absolutely content with the performance of this concealer, and I am so glad that I gave it a try. The creamy texture feels weightless on my skin, it's easy to work with, and it covers my imperfections beautifully. This has undoubtedly become a new staple of mine. If you are on the lookout for a lightweight, efficient and affordable concealer, I suggest giving this one a try.

What do you all think  of E.L.F.'s Maximum Coverage Concealer? Which are you favorite concealers?

  3. Great review Alina! Lately I've been loving the Garnier Anti Dark Circle Roller, but this one looks great & to provide a little more coverage. I'll totally give it a go, once I get off my no-buy! :)

    1. Thanks, Aly! I was actually interested in trying the Garnier anti dark circle roller, but I am afraid that it doesn't seem like it would be enough to cover my dark circles because of it's thin texture :( When your no-buy is up, I hope you try this concealer! :)

Btw this reminded me of the Estee Lauder Full Coverage Concealer (I think that's the name of it?) I've tried it and it is fantastic, hope this is a dupe xx
