Haul: E.L.F.

Hey lovelies!

I hope your week is going well so far. I can't believe finals are coming up at school already. It seemed liked yesterday I just took midterm exams. LOL! Even though I am not happy about the studying I am about to do (boo!), I am happy that the semester is almost over and I can start my one month winter break that lasts until the end of January. Thats when the Spring semester starts.

Last week I decided to place an order from E.L.F. because they were having special going on. If you spent $25 or more, you get free shipping. So I said hey, why not right? I got a bunch of neat stuff and I was also very impressed with the shipping time, seeing as I have never ordered anything from the E.L.F. website before. I got my order in like 6 days! Thats amazing :)

Here are the things I purchased and some swatches. (click all images to enlarge)

My order came in a cute drawstring bag

I really wanted to try a few more shades from the E.L.F. nail polish line. These colors are gorgeous, and I can't wait to rock these colors on my nails. Plum is a deep reddened plum, Mint Cream is a light tiffany blue/green color, and Smoky Brown is a brown taupe with a bit of grey in it I believe. All of the nail colors are creams, and I love that the E.L.F. nail colors are three free and do not contain Toluene, Formaldehyde, and Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP). Expect a separate post in where I swatch all three of these colors. I am super excited about the plum and mint cream. The plum is perfect for the winter months, and I am sure I will be wearing the mint cream loads this spring/summer.

I am very curious to try this primer. I have not given it a full test run yet but I am definitely going to review this soon when I have had more time to experiment with it and see how it performs. I will say that the formula is different from the other primers I have tried. This primer is more liquid like and not matte, or creamy like other primers. I wonder if this eye primer from E.L.F. is competition for my beloved Urban Decay Primer Potion?

Clockwise from top: Candid Coral, Gotta Glow, Peachy Keen

E.L.F. Blush in Candid Coral

E.L.F. Blush in Peachy Keen

E.L.F. Blush/Highlighter in Gotta Glow

Left To Right: Candid Coral, Peachy Keen, Gotta Glow

I think these E.L.F. blushes are quite good. These blushes are very pigmented, blend nicely, and are very soft. Too soft in fact, that the container can get quite messy inside. I make sure to dip my blush brush gently so I don't get the powder everywhere. I like how there is a clear window on the packaging so you can actually see what blush color it is you are looking for, and the containment of a little mirror inside the compacts. I like how soft the colors look on my skin. They give my skin a healthy, natural pop of color to them. Candid coral is a beautiful coral that contains fine shimmers of gold. I may be wrong but I think this blush may be a dupe for the famous NARS Orgasm blush? I don't own that blush but I have seen it in person at my local Sephora, as well as swatches online and they look a bit similar to me. Peachy Keen is my favorite of the bunch. It is a soft peach that also contains fine golden shimmer. I have been wearing this blush ever since I received it everyday to school and I really love how it brightens up my complexion by giving my cheeks a healthy, natural looking color/glow to them. In case you are wondering, the shimmers are not very strong once applied. You are just left with a nice glow. You won't look like a shimmery mess. Lastly, Gotta Glow is more of a highlighter than a blush in my opinion. Gotta glow is a very frosty/sparkly light yellow/gold with fine golden shimmers. I have not played around with this highlighter much but I have applied it to the tops of my cheekbones and I must say, I really love the effect I get from Gotta Glow. It does a great job when it comes to highlighting. A little bit of product goes a long way when it comes to Gotta Glow. Don't over do it or else you will look like a frosty/shimmery mess!

Left To Right: Golden Bronzer, Warm Bronzer

Golden Bronzer

Warm Bronzer

Golden Bronzer Swatch

Warm Bronzer Swatch

I have been really into bronzing lately for everyday and I just had to get my hands on these bronzers from E.L.F. Even though these bronzers may look a bit similar in the pictures above, believe me they are not. Both bronzers contain four different shades that you can use separately or blend together. They also contain fine golden shimmers as well. Golden Bronzer is gorgeous but I am disappointed that the colors don't really show up on my skin at all. Actually for me, this bronzer is more for creating a pretty golden highlight. It does a great job at that but I would be careful because if I apply this on my cheeks with a heavy hand, it tends to accentuate my pores. Warm bronzer is really pretty as well. I wore it today for school and it gave my skin a healthy and warm glow to it. I applied it on my cheeks and it stayed on all day without fading away. Blended nice and easily as well. Love!

Top To Bottom:

I have heard nothing but great things when it comes to the E.L.F. Studio Powder Brush. I got it specifically because I read it was amazing for applying, and blending in liquid foundation. And what do you know? It really is! This powder brush is super soft and it blends in my liquid foundation like a dream. I also purchased the E.L.F. blending eye brush which is soft as well and it is a great brush for blending out shadows, and applying color on my crease area. Lastly, I got the E.L.F. Studio small angled brush which works great for filling my brows, and for doing detailed eyeshadow work. This brush is soft, small. precise, though not very firm. I have not tried it for applying eyeliner, but I will soon enough.

Whew! Sorry for this long post and picture overload LOL! I hope you enjoyed this post and you found it helpful in some way :) Have any of you tried the items I mentioned above? Let me know, I would love to know what you all think. If any of you want me to review anything in full detail please let me know in the comments section and I will be happy to oblige.

  3. I have that mint polish and I love it. I also have the angled and blending brushes. I like the angled brush for when I'm applying my cream liner it makes it easier to get in the inner corner without any mess ups.
