Review│Maybelline Color Show Polka Dots in Clearly Spotted

When Maybelline released their Color Show Polka Dots Nail Lacquer collection this summer, I immediately went on a hunt for the highly coveted Clearly Spotted-a clear base that contains various sizes of black and white glitter. After a lot of searching-and I do mean a lot, I finally found it!

I often love to jazz up and embellish my nails with pretty glitters, and the ones in Clearly Spotted are no exception. I love the contrasting black and white glitters, which are such a nice alternative to your usual glitzy glitters, that are so popular.

(From L-R, 3 coats each: Clearly Spotted on it's own, over Maybelline's Color Show Nail Lacquer in Audacious Asphalt, over Zoya's Sooki, over Julep's Dianna

In the swatch picture above, I showcased how Clearly Spotted looks when worn on it's own, as well as how it looks like layered atop a couple of other solid colors. I am really fond of how this looks paired with the mint green and light grey!

With saturated glitters like this one, you have complete freedom when it comes to the level of opacity that you desire. For a lighter glitter scattered effect, one coat is plenty. But if you want a more heavier coverage, 2-3 coats should do the trick.

In order to obtain the best results, I suggest a combination of swiping on/patting on the glitters during application, since the glitters have the tendency to move around. Also, let each coat dry for a bit before continuing on with the next one. If not, the polish might drag on the nails, and the outcome will just be thick and messy.

Overall
I am so glad that I added Maybelline's Clearly Spotted to my collection. I don't have anything like it, and I know I am going to be getting heaps of use out of this versatile glitter. I think I am going to pick up a few more shades in the polka dots lineup. Pretty in Polka, and Dotty look gorgeous!
