Birchbox: August 2012

My August Birchbox is finally here! For this month, Birchbox is introducing a few must have items that are sure to come in handy, during the fall months. Aside from the items, included in the box is a fun "Beauty School" booklet that is filled with loads of beauty tips, from quick makeup fixes to obtaining a better shave. Also, for the whole month of August, Birchbox is going to be donating 15% of the Birchbox shop proceeds, to Pencils of Promise-an organization that helps build schools in communities, to go towards building a school in central America. The goal is to reach $25,000. How amazing is that? I really appreciate companies that do their part to help others. It says a lot about the company.

Check out what I received in my August box!

Pixi Beauty Lip & Line in Peony Pretty: When I saw this product in my box, I instantly jumped for joy! I have always read great things about Pixi products so, to finally be able to try a Pixi product is really exciting. This double ended liner and lipstick looks pretty neat and so convenient, too. The deep rosy pink color is lovely, and it's a shade that is appropriate to sport for the fall months. Can't wait to give this a go! I will review and post swatches soon so be on the lookout for that.

Miss Jessie's Original Stretch Silkening Creme: This hair cream is great for use on curly hair. It's supposed to moisturize, condition and smooth away frizz. Sounds perfect for me because I have naturally curly, dry, and frizzy hair that has a life of its own sometimes. Any help with keeping my curls under control and hydrated, is very much welcomed. This cream smells really good, too. Very clean and fresh.

Yu-Be Moisturizing Skin Cream: I have seen this cream in other beauty boxes lately and I am happy that it was my turn to finally receive one of these. This multi-use cream is meant to help soften and moisturize dry areas like, hands, cuticles, lips, and heels. The consistency of this cream is semi-thick, and on initial application I detect a strong, spicy medicinal scent. It dissipates after awhile so, good thing it doesn't linger around for long. I tried a bit of this cream on my hands and the heels of my feet and I have to say, it really does moisturize and soften well. Absorbs quickly, too. I may just purchase the full size of this product if the results continue to impress me.

Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy La Fleur: This fragrance smells scrumptious. The notes of waterlily, mandarin and wild berries all come together beautifully, to induce a fresh, sweet floral scent. I enjoy smaller fragrance samples like this one because, I like to carry them in my bag when traveling, for mid-day touch ups. Super handy to have around.

Schick Hydro Silk Razor: It was time for me to get a new razor, so this one could not have arrived at a better time. It looks like it will do the job and the fact that it contains 5 blades, is an even better treat! I sure love a close shave. This razor also contains a water activated serum infused with marine extracts, which helps moisturize the skin. On the back of the packaging, there were a few money saving coupons that are good towards Schick Hydro Silk refills and a shave gel. Love! I will be using them, for sure.

Overall: I am very happy with the contents in my box, this month. I am especially excited about the full size Pixi lip & line. It was such a nice surprise that I can't wait to try. And the razor was a nice inclusion, too. I will absolutely be getting a lot of use out of all the items. I am a very happy customer :)

  3. WOW, What a Disappointment my box was *** I got a skin brightner and 2 self tanners !! Don't need any brightner and living in ARIZONA at 101 degrees today don't need any self tanners ! Ugh, I did receive 3 swab sticks with make-up remover in them, the razor, & the Juicy perfume.
I am in the 50-55 age range....so I logged into my account and change my age to 25 !! I seems Birchbox thinks we OLD people don't need lipstick or last months eyeliner *** hahaha
