Product Review: Dior Diorskin Nude Glow Healthy Glow Summer Powder-Aurora

Hey Dolls,

I have always admired the gorgeousness that is Dior cosmetics, even though I never actually had the courage to splurge on any of the items because the items are just not in my budget. If I am going to splurge on a product, it has to be something that I know I will use everyday (well, most days), and it has to be of great quality. I want the product to have a quality that outshines other products. Diorskin Nude Glow Healthy Glow Summer Powder in Aurora ($46.00), definitely passed my splurge qualifications. Therefore, it had to come home with me.

I love the super-sleek packaging. Although you may not be able to tell from the picture above, the top cover is of the reflective sorts. I can see my reflection, and if I am clumsy, I can also see my fingerprints on the lid. The top cover also has an engraved 'Dior' logo on it too. The compact feels sturdy, and there is a nicely sized mirror included as well.

Since the top lid is so delicate to fingerprint touch, it is very important that it is properly housed, in a protective manner. Dior made sure of that by including a luxurious, velvet fabric carrying case. The carrying case not only houses the Dior Powder compact in Aurora, but on the front of the case there is another pocket that houses a mini Dior, blush application brush. The only quirk I have with the case, is that since the fabric is Velvet, it attracts a lot of dust. Boo!

This brush is super soft. It feels great on my skin, and it applies Aurora beautifully on my cheeks. It glides on just the right areas where the powder should be applied. I am usually not happy with the accompanying brushes that come along with blush and bronzer products. They usually feel rough on the skin, and the hairs are really scratchy. But this brush by Dior is totally different. I was very impressed. The brush also has a lovely, printed Dior logo on the handle, and it's reflective as well just like the top cover of the powder compact.

Now onto the actual powder. The weave-like pattern is really beautiful. There are a few different color tones in this compact. The warmth of the golden tan, and peach colors-along with the small, fine golden shimmers, all work together to create that natural looking glow that we all long for in the summertime. The golden shimmers are just beautiful. They are not very prominent at all on my cheeks. This is shimmer done right, folks. It's just enough to help give me that golden, soft bronze glow that I always love for summertime.

This powder applies smoothly, and although it may not seem like it, pigmentation is definitely there. Just because the colors are soft and delicate, it does not mean that you need to keep packing on this powder to achieve pigmentation. This is a buildable powder, and it is one that is easy to over-apply, if not careful. I just apply one or two quick swipes on my cheeks, and voila', soft, natural looking golden bronze sun kissed cheeks in no time. A little goes a long way.

I just love the soft-focus effect this powder gives to my cheeks. So much, that I often sometimes skip applying blush on top of Aurora. Aurora is just that special. She deserves to shine on her own. I purchased this powder back in May and it has been in rotation when it comes to my makeup application, almost everyday. Aurora lasts all day on my cheeks. Not even the warm, humid weather can fade her away.

I can't recommend Aurora enough. I really hope that this is actually part of Dior's permanent line, and not a limited edition item. I definitely plan to repurchase once I run out of this one. Well, there is a lot of product...I am sure I won't have to purchase a new one for a good while. This first Dior purchase, has definitely made me a happy customer, and I will be checking out more products in their cosmetics line in the future.

Have any of you tried this Dior Powder in Aurora? What are your favorite Dior products? Let me know in the comments, lovelies!

  1. I've been eyeing off this for ages, but I can't justify the price of it here in AU. It's around $90 (US & AU dollars are the same at the moment). I hope you'll show a FOTD with Aurora, would love to see how it looks on.
