My Tips on Preventing ACNE!

Hey loves, I know Acne is a pain in the behind to have...believe me I have been there. Here are a few tricks and tips that I have used to help me with my acne...well, I also have my fabulous dermatologist to thank! But, for those who cant see a dermatologist, here are a few of my suggestions to help with acne.

1. The most important thing to remember is to DRINK LOTS OF WATER. Water helps keep your skin healthy and hydrated.

2. Try an acne treatment system. A good one that I really love is called Acne Free. Acne Free is a 3 step system that includes a cleanser, a toner-to clean all your gunk off your face like makeup and dirt, and lotion. The best part of this system is that is has Benzoyl Peroxide...which helps with acne. You can find Acne Free in any drugstore like CVS, Duane Reade, etc... for $20.00. Good deal huh?...I haven't tried other acne systems such as pro-active or Neutrogena...but use whatever works for you...and when you start using acne products and your skin freaks out and you feel like you may be experiencing more pimples and such, that's just your skin's way of reacting to the product...its like detoxifying your face from all the gunk inside...it takes the body about 30 days to get used to a product or a new skin care regimen. Dont judge a product so soon, give it time and the results will be fantastic. It will be worth the wait, even though you may become impatient.

3. Always moisturize. Every day in the morning or whenever you go out. Use an oil free moisturizer that contains at least an SPF of 15 or 30 to protect your skin from the sun's harmful UVB and UVA rays. A good moisturizer that I love is Olay Complete All Day Moisture Lotion SPF 15. It is a light moisturizer that is oil free, fragrance free, and its for sensitive skin. You can find Olay moisturizer in any drugstore for $10.00.

4. When purchasing makeup, make sure that your foundation is oil-free so it won't clog your pores. A good oil-free foundation that I love and I think would be very helpful for acne prone skin is ,Tarte-Smooth Operator SPF 20 foundation which can be found at Sephora Stores for $35.00-kinda steep but worth it and gentle on your skin because it does not contain any harsh ingredients. This foundation contains antioxidants, vitamins A,C,E, Ginseng. It is also very moisturizing and hydrating.

Mineral makeup is also a great option because it not only covers your scarring and blemishes, its really gentle on your skin-a good mineral foundation that I love is Bare Minerals powder foundation with SPF 15, which can also be found at Sephora for $25.00...a little steep again but a little goes a long way so this stuff will last you forever.

5. Always remove your makeup at night and cleanse your face with a good face wash (cleanser, scrub, etc...)

6. As for acne scarring, there are drugstore products that "claim" to help fade scars...I haven't tried any, but I encourage you to try things out and find what works for you...its all about trial and run. I suggest going to a drugstore to look for some acne scar fade creams. Also, it would help if you would apply a mask, or a gentle at home peel to help brighten up some of the scars and help remove dead skin cells to introduce fresh clean layers of skin. A popular peel that has been much raved about is Philosophy's The Microdelivery Peel. It is a kit that can be purchased at Sephora or Sephora.com for $65.00. The peel contains Vitamin C, and it helps to exfoliate the skin, while replenishing it at the same time.

I hope these tips were helpful Loves :)
