Haul: E.L.F.

Hey lovelies!

I hope your week is going well so far. I can't believe finals are coming up at school already. It seemed liked yesterday I just took midterm exams. LOL! Even though I am not happy about the studying I am about to do (boo!), I am happy that the semester is almost over and I can start my one month winter break that lasts until the end of January. Thats when the Spring semester starts.

Last week I decided to place an order from E.L.F. because they were having special going on. If you spent $25 or more, you get free shipping. So I said hey, why not right? I got a bunch of neat stuff and I was also very impressed with the shipping time, seeing as I have never ordered anything from the E.L.F. website before. I got my order in like 6 days! Thats amazing :)

Here are the things I purchased and some swatches. (click all images to enlarge)

My order came in a cute drawstring bag

I really wanted to try a few more shades from the E.L.F. nail polish line. These colors are gorgeous, and I can't wait to rock these colors on my nails. Plum is a deep reddened plum, Mint Cream is a light tiffany blue/green color, and Smoky Brown is a brown taupe with a bit of grey in it I believe. All of the nail colors are creams, and I love that the E.L.F. nail colors are three free and do not contain Toluene, Formaldehyde, and Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP). Expect a separate post in where I swatch all three of these colors. I am super excited about the plum and mint cream. The plum is perfect for the winter months, and I am sure I will be wearing the mint cream loads this spring/summer.

I am very curious to try this primer. I have not given it a full test run yet but I am definitely going to review this soon when I have had more time to experiment with it and see how it performs. I will say that the formula is different from the other primers I have tried. This primer is more liquid like and not matte, or creamy like other primers. I wonder if this eye primer from E.L.F. is competition for my beloved Urban Decay Primer Potion?

Clockwise from top: Candid Coral, Gotta Glow, Peachy Keen

E.L.F. Blush in Candid Coral

E.L.F. Blush in Peachy Keen

E.L.F. Blush/Highlighter in Gotta Glow

Left To Right: Candid Coral, Peachy Keen, Gotta Glow

I think these E.L.F. blushes are quite good. These blushes are very pigmented, blend nicely, and are very soft. Too soft in fact, that the container can get quite messy inside. I make sure to dip my blush brush gently so I don't get the powder everywhere. I like how there is a clear window on the packaging so you can actually see what blush color it is you are looking for, and the containment of a little mirror inside the compacts. I like how soft the colors look on my skin. They give my skin a healthy, natural pop of color to them. Candid coral is a beautiful coral that contains fine shimmers of gold. I may be wrong but I think this blush may be a dupe for the famous NARS Orgasm blush? I don't own that blush but I have seen it in person at my local Sephora, as well as swatches online and they look a bit similar to me. Peachy Keen is my favorite of the bunch. It is a soft peach that also contains fine golden shimmer. I have been wearing this blush ever since I received it everyday to school and I really love how it brightens up my complexion by giving my cheeks a healthy, natural looking color/glow to them. In case you are wondering, the shimmers are not very strong once applied. You are just left with a nice glow. You won't look like a shimmery mess. Lastly, Gotta Glow is more of a highlighter than a blush in my opinion. Gotta glow is a very frosty/sparkly light yellow/gold with fine golden shimmers. I have not played around with this highlighter much but I have applied it to the tops of my cheekbones and I must say, I really love the effect I get from Gotta Glow. It does a great job when it comes to highlighting. A little bit of product goes a long way when it comes to Gotta Glow. Don't over do it or else you will look like a frosty/shimmery mess!

Left To Right: Golden Bronzer, Warm Bronzer

Golden Bronzer

Warm Bronzer

Golden Bronzer Swatch

Warm Bronzer Swatch

I have been really into bronzing lately for everyday and I just had to get my hands on these bronzers from E.L.F. Even though these bronzers may look a bit similar in the pictures above, believe me they are not. Both bronzers contain four different shades that you can use separately or blend together. They also contain fine golden shimmers as well. Golden Bronzer is gorgeous but I am disappointed that the colors don't really show up on my skin at all. Actually for me, this bronzer is more for creating a pretty golden highlight. It does a great job at that but I would be careful because if I apply this on my cheeks with a heavy hand, it tends to accentuate my pores. Warm bronzer is really pretty as well. I wore it today for school and it gave my skin a healthy and warm glow to it. I applied it on my cheeks and it stayed on all day without fading away. Blended nice and easily as well. Love!

Top To Bottom:

I have heard nothing but great things when it comes to the E.L.F. Studio Powder Brush. I got it specifically because I read it was amazing for applying, and blending in liquid foundation. And what do you know? It really is! This powder brush is super soft and it blends in my liquid foundation like a dream. I also purchased the E.L.F. blending eye brush which is soft as well and it is a great brush for blending out shadows, and applying color on my crease area. Lastly, I got the E.L.F. Studio small angled brush which works great for filling my brows, and for doing detailed eyeshadow work. This brush is soft, small. precise, though not very firm. I have not tried it for applying eyeliner, but I will soon enough.

Whew! Sorry for this long post and picture overload LOL! I hope you enjoyed this post and you found it helpful in some way :) Have any of you tried the items I mentioned above? Let me know, I would love to know what you all think. If any of you want me to review anything in full detail please let me know in the comments section and I will be happy to oblige.

MAC Pro Longwear SPF 10 Foundation: Review + Swatches

Hey dolls!

The time has come for me to finally review MAC's latest foundation, Pro Longwear. I have been using this foundation for 1 month now and I want to let you all know what I think of it. First of all, when it comes to MAC foundations I try and stay away, seeing as I believe they may not be a good option for people like me who have acne-prone and sensitive skin. I tried the MAC Studio Fix Fluid foundation about a year ago, and although I loved the coverage and how it looked on my skin, I broke out horribly. Ever since then I vowed to never try anymore of MAC's foundations. (click all images to enlarge)

MAC Pro Longwear SPF 10 Foundation in NC25

MAC Pro Longwear SPF 10 Foundation NC25

Wearing MAC Pro Longwear SPF 10 Foundation

I don't know what came over me to try the new Pro Longwear SPF10 Foundation ($29.50) from MAC. I guess I wanted to burry the hatchet and give MAC foundations another chance. I chose Pro Longwear because from the reviews I read online, it provided full coverage and it contained an SPF of 10. I went to my nearby MAC counter and I honestly decided to just match myself. I am not a fan of being color matched by the artists at the counters because I often find that they don't really properly match me. They often give me colors that are way too dark for my skin tone. Surprisingly, I did a good job matching myself. The shade NC25 was a perfect match!

Most MAC foundations run on the orange side. I was very happy to find out that NC25 is not orange at all on me. In fact, I find that it has a great amount of yellow in it, which is perfect for me seeing as I have yellow undertones to my skin. I have read other reviews stating that the Pro Longwear foundations run on the yellow side. I don't know if this is true for all of the shades of Pro Longwear, but NC25 is definitely on the yellow spectrum.

Thoughts/observation:
1. I apply this foundation using my Handi Buki Brush ($20.00) from Bare Escentuals. I find that about 1 pump and a half of the foundation is enough to cover my whole face. It blends easily into my skin and matches my neck perfectly so I don't get that line of demarcation some foundations can give. Although I will suggest applying this foundation in sections, and working on one part of the face at a time as it sets pretty quick.
2. Coverage-wise, I find that this foundation does not completely offer full coverage. I still see a bit of acne scarring and other flaws on my face, but it does blur them out nicely making my skin appear much more even. I would say this foundation provides a medium build-able coverage.
3. The fact that this foundation is more on the yellow side is fabulous for helping to conceal redness on the skin. In the morning sometimes my face is uneven, red, and blotchy. Just by applying this foundation I find that the redness is completely gone and my skin is much more even toned.
5. The finish provided is more of a semi-matte finish. If you are looking for a dewy finish, you won't find it with Pro Longwear. But the matte finish is very nice and natural looking. Definitely not a dry skin matte.
6. After I apply the foundation I do feel a bit of tackiness on my skin, but it is nothing that some loose setting powder can't remedy.

Pros:
1. MAC was not kidding around when they decided to name this foundation Pro Longwear! I wear this foundation everyday for school, and it truly does last all day on my face. The great thing is that it stays looking just the same as when I apply it in the morning. Amazing!
2. Love that there is a pump on this foundation which allows you to dispense the perfect amount of product.
3. I like the addition of SPF 10
4. Great option for those who have yellow undertones in their skin
5. Did not break me out, YAY!
6. Helps control my oily T-Zone area. I still get oily the most on my nose. But not as much as I would have if I used another foundation.
7. Love the semi-matte finish. Looks really natural on my skin.
8. There is no offensive scent to this foundation. There is a tiny chemical smell to it, but it dissipates rather quickly once it is blended onto the skin.

Cons:
1. I have been using this foundation every day I go out, but although this foundation did not break me out, I feel that if I use it everyday it takes a toll on my skin. Almost as if my skin needed to breathe a bit. I guess I should take it easy seeing as this foundation is a bit heavy on my skin. I have decided that I am not going to use this foundation everyday. Instead I will just apply a tinted moisturizer and something light-weight that feels light on the skin.
2. Price may be a bit steep, but I am sure this foundation will last a long time. I have had this foundation for a month and I am not even half-way done yet.
3. If your skin is on the dry and flaky side, i would recommend you moisturize really well as this foundation can enhance dryness and flakiness.

Conclusion:
I really like this new foundation from MAC and I hope they don't ever discontinue it, and I will repurchase when I run out. I am happy to know that not ALL MAC foundations are horrible for my skin. Since I had a good experience with Pro Longwear, I am definitely open to trying other foundations from MAC. I may want to try the Face and Body Foundation next. Any thoughts on that one? Is it any good?

Have any of you tried the Pro Longwear foundation? What do you all think of it? Let me know in the comments section :)

Product Review: Rosebud Salve and Strawberry Lip Balms

When it comes to cult classics, I want to try them all! That is why I could not resist purchasing the much-raved about Smith's Rosebud Salve original ($6.00), and the Strawberry scented version ($7.00). Just two of three versions available-there is a minted rose version too. (click all images to enlarge)

Let's take a look at the Strawberry version first.

Rosebud Strawberry Lip Balm

This was the first lip balm I purchased before I bought the original. I am a lover of flavored balms and this one was right up my alley. I really like the tin packaging because it sort of gives the balm an antiqued, classic feel to it. I know some may have problems with the packaging being unsanitary and such but this really isn't a problem for me as I don't really mind it. I like that this lip balm is very thick and creamy in consistency and it smells really yummy! The ingredients list is pretty short as well, which I really like as well. This lip balm is best for moisturizing chapped, and dry lips. I have been using this lip balm for about 2 weeks now, and I will say that it does deliver what it promises. My lips are super dry and chapped and after using this strawberry scented lip balm, I have noticed an improvement on my lips. They definitely don't look or feel dry and chapped at all! I like that this balm does not feel sticky on my lips either. My only gripe with this balm is that it feels a bit waxy and heavy on my lips, as if I just applied a ton of product when I really applied a little bit. It does not feel very comfortable on my lips at all. Even though I liked this Strawberry scented balm, the original Rosebud Salve stole my heart.

Now, let's take a look at Rosebud Salve.

Smith's Rosebud Salve (Original)

Now this balm is more like it! Believe me when I tell you all that this balm feels like heaven on the lips! The scent is delicately rose-scented, and the formula and consistency of this balm is very smooth and soft-even soft to the touch. Just a little tap on the product and you have enough to apply on your lips. A little bit of product goes a long way. And get this, Rosebud Salve is not only great for moisturizing dry and chapped lips, this baby is a multi-purpose product! You can apply Rosebud Salve to help moisturize dry elbows, knees, and even help with irritation. The possibilities are endless. This balm goes on smooth on the lips, and they make my lips look and FEEL very moisturized and healthy, and may I add-a little plumper too. But that may just be me LOL! I also like applying this balm on the corners of my lips where they can sometimes get dry and flaky. Overall, I love this lip balm. And for those of you who are concerned about the unsanitary packaging, the original Rosebud Salve is available in a squeeze tube version as well ($6.00)

To sum this post up, I like both the balms but I have more love for the original Rosebud Salve. I do wish though that these lip balms contained some sort of SPF in them. That would really seal the deal for me. Each of the balms apply colorless on the lips both leaving a healthy looking sheen on the lips. The balms last a good 2-3 hours before I feel like I have to re-apply again. But rest assured, my lips feel hydrated and moisturized all day long.

What do you all think of these Rosebud lip balms? Ever tried any of them? Love them? Hate them? Let me know in the comments. I would love to hear your thoughts.

I am now off to watch a new episode of The Walking Dead on AMC. Love that show. Are any of you fans as well? Good Night dolls!

Holiday Wish List

Hey Lovelies!

Sunday already? Is it just me or are these weekends going by faster and faster? LOL! As you all know the holidays are approaching near, and now is about that time where we all have our handy dandy wish list ready.

Here is mine. What are some items on your wish list? Let me know in the comments!

1. UGG Australia 'Classic Short' Boot ($139.95)- I have never really been a fan of these kinds of boot styles.  I never understood why people wanted to walk in something that would be more better suited for lounging in at home. But I think I finally understand! Everybody who has a pair of UGG's have assured me that they are the MOST comfiest, and warmest boots ever! And I am all about comfy and warm, especially now since the weather here in NYC will be changing to unbearable coldness pretty soon. I actually prefer the short style of the UGG boot as opposed to the tall kind. I don't like to fuss too much when it comes to tucking in my jeans in boots. Sometimes it can be a real pain! These short ones would undoubtedly make that factor quite easy for me to bear I am sure.

2. Michael Kors 'Madison' Clear Resin & Crystal Watch ($225.00)- I know many are fans of watches from Michael Kors. The man sure knows how to deliver when it comes to classic, and gorgeous watch styles because everybody loves them and can't get enough. White watches were (and still are) quite popular during the warmer spring/summer months. I am craving something classic with a punch of sparkle. This two-toned  watch is perfect because it not only has the fab contrast between yellow gold and clear resin, but because it also contains a gorgeous detailing of swarovski crystals. Gorge!

3. Coach Madison Leather Sophia Satchel ($398.00)- When it comes to handbags, Coach is most definitely my brand of choice. The bags are of superb quality, and they are very well made. I usually have loads of black handbags, and realized that I did not have a classic neutral brown one. This satchel is right up my alley. I can carry it on my arm, or pull out the detachable strap to carry it on my shoulder. I can see this gorgeous bag working with every outfit for any season!

4. Tarte Ring It In Cheek Stain Set ($25.00)- Tarte comes out with amazing limited-edition holiday sets and this one being no exception. This set of three mini pink/peach toned cheek stains also comes with a gorgeous ring that I am sure would look perfect paired with holiday outfits! How cool is that?

5. Urban Decay 24/7 Jackpot ($39.00)- How great does this 10 piece limited edition pencil liner set from Urban Decay look? My eyes go insane when they see the gorgeous, assortment of vibrant, and neutral colors that are included in the kit. And I am especially loving the inclusion of a FULL SIZE glide-on pencil liner in the ever-so popular Zero. I always trust Zero when it comes to lining my water-line. It is creamy, never tugs, and the color shows up very deep and pigmented.

Product Rave: Neutrogena Triple Moisture Deep Recovery Hair Mask

When it comes to Neutrogena, I don't usually associate hair care with the brand, as they are better known to me as a skincare company. Although I have never really had luck with their skincare products, I do tend to forget that Nautrogena also carries hair products such as shampoos, and hair treatments. If Neutrogena does not work for me in terms of skin, then who knows? I thought maybe I could have better luck with their hair products. I picked up the Nautrogena Triple Moisture Deep Recovery Hair Mask (around $7.00) because I read on the tub packaging that it was great for treating dry hair, and hair that was color-treated. I decided to give it a go. (click all images to enlarge)

Neutrogena Triple Moisture Deep Recovery Hair Mask

After using it for about 3 months I am not even half-way done!

My hair is very dry, frizzy, unmanageable, and it is color treated as well. I usually dye my hair every 3 months or so. When it comes to very harsh hair processes, I don't bleach or highlight my hair at all. I just stick to one overall dark hair color process. This mask contains three natural extracts-Olive, Meadowfoam Seed, and Sweet Almond, and each work to help moisturize and hydrate the hair from root to ends. Olive is used to "penetrate to the center of the hair, Meadowfoam Seed helps moisturize the middle, and Sweet Almond wraps the surface".

When washing my hair, I use my Head And Shoulders Shampoo (I don't have dandruff really, I just like head and shoulders because I feel like it really helps keep my hair and scalp very healthy. Other shampoos I have tried always seem to make my scalp feel dry and itchy-I decided to stick with what works for me), then after shampooing I take about a quarter sized dollop of the Nautrogena Triple Moisture Hair Mask and start applying it to my hair from hair shaft all the way to the ends, where I make sure to really concentrate the the product as my ends are very dry. I don't apply this hair mask to my scalp because the top part of my hair can get oily really fast, so I just leave the top scalp alone when it comes to applying hair treatments and such. I then clip up my hair and leave the mask on the hair for about 5 minutes while I finish the rest of my shower.

Pros:
1. The scent is amazing! It smells very clean and fresh. The smell even lingers in my hair a bit after I finish styling.
2. A little bit goes a long way when it comes to this hair mask. I apply a quarter size amount as I have a lot of hair, but if you have shorter hair I am sure you can get away with even a little bit less than a quarter size. Don't let the size of this 6 OZ tub fool you, this mask lasts a good while.
3. As I am rinsing the product out of my hair after 5 minutes, I immediately feel the softness and effect of the mask in my hair. While combing through my hair, I also noticed that it is so much easier to de-tangle as well.
4. When blow-drying and flat ironing my hair, I noticed that the end result leaves my hair more shinier, frizz free, and healthy-looking. I was very impressed when it came to my hair ends. They look super shiny, smooth and healthy!
5. Very affordable, and readily available in most drugstores.

Cons:
1. I just have one gripe with the product-the jar packaging. I wish this mask would come in a squeeze tube  because this jar can be quite a character while trying to work with it in the shower. The tub can be slippery and fall in my shower, and bits of water can often get in the jar as well. But, I guess I can overlook that little factor as I really like this mask.

Conclusion:
I am very happy I picked up this hair mask from Neutrogena and I recommend it for those who have dry damaged hair. I don't recommend this hair mask if your hair is very fine seeing as I think it would weigh the hair down a bit.
Have any of you tried this hair mask from Neutrogena? Let me know what you all think of it!

Beauty Crave

After a long day it can be agreed upon that we all just want to sit back, relax, and pamper ourselves when it comes to bath time. Unfortunately, I am not so much a bath person. I actually prefer showers instead. It is a shame though because I know baths are very soothing, as well as relaxing. The thought of missing out on the possible fun and relaxing bubble baths saddens me! Who knows, maybe one day I will get out of this no-bath rut. But when it comes to showering, I mean business! I wash my hair, I ex-foliate, etc. My favorite part is after I hop out of the shower and I lotion myself up. I really think lotions can be quite calming once applied. The soothing aromas and such all does me a world of good and makes me forget about stressful school days.

Here are some of my craves/picks in this edition of Beauty Crave. If you have any of the items mentioned above, please let me know what you all think of them. I would love to know!

1. Lush BIG Shampoo ($22.95)- I know many are fans of this much raved about shampoo from Lush. I have never tried any hair products from them so I am quite curious as to how this shampoo would work on my hair. I have dry and frizzy hair. I wonder if this could tame it-in fact, I wonder if anything can LOL! According to the Lush site, BIG shampoo is great for providing volume for those who have flat hair that may be hard to volumize. A few main ingredients contained in BIG are seaweed which is used to strengthen the hair, lime juice, used for making the hair shiny and a very interesting ingredient which I have never imagined would be in shampoos, sea salt. As far as I can tell from pictures of BIG, the shampoo seems very thick and textured. I wonder if a little bit goes a long way when it comes to making the shampoo lather up.

2. Philosophy Cheers (TM) Set ($25.00)- Of the few Philosophy shower gels/cleansers I have tried, I really enjoy them. They make for an amazing, and sometimes yummy experience when they are dessert scented. My only qualm with the shower cleansers is that the smell does not last on me at all. When I shower I smell all that yummy goodness, but as soon as I am out of the shower-BAM! Smell is undetectable. I guess this is a good quality for those who don't like to have any scent on them but I am all for yummy smells! But honestly, it does not bother me much if the smell fades away on me. I can just layer a body lotion on top and I will be fine. All in all, the Philosophy shower gels are amazing  shower treats and I can't wait to get more. How cute is this limited edition gift set? Scents included are lavender, pomegranate, and Bubbly. I wonder how Bubbly smells like? I am glad that there is a lavender scent because as you all know, lavender is a super soothing smell.

3. Korres Basil Lemon Body Scrub ($8.50)- I love body scrubs. I know body scrubbing is a MUST for those of us who are constantly self-tanning at home with tanning lotions and sprays. Ex-foliating provides a smooth , and flake-free base for achieving that perfect streak free tanning application. Using a scrub is essential for summer, but also for these coming colder winter months that leave us with dry, scaly skin. This online-only body scrub from Korres contains all natural ingredients, YAY! And is formulated without parabens, sulfates, mineral oil, and other chemical ingredients that our skin does not need. The Korres Basil Lemon Body Scrub contains plant extracts, is dermatologist tested, and contains a fun citrus scent. I love that this body scrub is in a tube, as opposed to in a tub like other body scrubs usually are. Makes for an easy and mess free application.

4. Philosophy Pure Grace Perfumed Body Lotion ($34.00)- I LOVE Philosophy's Pure Grace Body Lotion! I apply it everyday to my arms and legs and I love the way it smells. I can't really describe the smell but if I had to, I would just say that it smells clean and fresh. Like you just hopped out of the shower. The lotion is very creamy and penetrates really nice and fast into the skin. I especially love the fact that this body lotion is in a pump bottle and it leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth and not sticky and tacky like some other body lotions feel on me. Currently in my shower, I have the Pure Grace Foaming Bath and Shower Cream ($22.00) and I love it as well. In fact, I am almost running out! Don't let the price scare you, believe me when I say that this stuff will last you a VERY long time.

5. Neutrogena Triple Moisture Deep Recovery Hair Mask ($7.49)- I have been using this hair mask from Neutrogena for about 2 months now and I really enjoy it. It smells really nice, and it definitely makes my hair more manageable and easier to style. Stay tuned for an upcoming review on this hair mask. But I do recommend this product for those who have dry and damaged hair. You may like it.

Smashbox Wish For The Perfect Pencils-Review and Swatches

Don't you all just love the Holiday Season? I not only love it because that is when I can spend time with all my friends, family, and loved ones, but also because when it comes to makeup, there are a bunch of amazing beauty kits and sets released as well! I went to my nearby Sephora store the other day and I picked up the Smashbox Wish For The Perfect Pencils set ($16.00). This limited edition contains four gorgeous waterproof eyeliners that I am sure will suit everybody's fancy. If gorgeous pencil liners aren't enough, Smashbox will also "donate $1.00 for every Wish Purchase up to $25,000 to Children's Miracle Network, a non-profit organization that grants the wish of life by providing medical care, life-saving research and on-going education to help millions of kids overcome diseases and injuries of every kind." Doing good while looking good is ALWAYS in style. Love that! (click all images to enlarge)

I have had some time to play around with these pencil liners and I must say I am impressed. When it comes to applying these liners to your upper and lower lash line, these babies deliver and don't disappoint. They go on pigmented, smooth, and creamy=no tugging on the skin, Yay! With the exception of 14K which goes on a bit sheer though. But 14K shines when used as an inner corner color to help brighten up the eye area, and make those peepers pop. When it comes to lasting power, they last a pretty good while before I see a tiny, tiny-hardly noticeable, hint of fading. But believe me, it still looks good after a long day. I applied these on the back of my hand while I was swatching them, and I rubbed, and rubbed, and these liners did not budge!

I want to mention that if you are going to purchase this pencil liner set just to apply them to your waterline, I would not recommend you do so. It's funny, I tried applying them on the waterline and none of the shades would show up...then I am like wait a minute? HELLO ALINA, they are waterproof! LOL! I am so silly sometimes, I tell ya'.

Overall, this pencil eyeliner set from Smashbox is a great buy! I don't really venture too much when it comes to Smashbox cosmetics, but I am definitely going to check out more items from their cosmetics line.
What do you all think of these liners? Have you tried them? Love them, hate them? Let me know in the comments section lovelies!

Product Review: E.L.F. Translucent Matifying Powder

TGIF Everyone!

I am so ready for this weekend. I need to rest! It has been a hectic week, as I knew it would be. I was crazy studying for exams and I have another one on Monday! So you all know what my weekend is going to consist of LOL! Ugh...when are these exams going to end? But no worries, I am sure everything will all be worthwhile in the end :)
I stopped by Sephora today because they were having their 20% off sale, so I picked up some stuff. Stay tuned for more reviews and such. And I know I have been a very bad blogger lately for my lack of postings, and looks of the days . I want to Thank You all for sticking with me, and I will be back to more consistent posting very soon, promise!

For today's post, I am going to review E.L.F.'s Translucent Matifying Powder ($3.00) that I picked up at Target last month. I am that kind of girl who always needs powder! My skin is very oily-mostly in the t-zone area and I can't leave the house without setting my makeup with some powder because then I will be a shiny mess all day. That's not a good look for me. Here is my breakdown of what I thought of it. (click all images to enlarge).

E.L.F. Translucent Matifying Powder ($3.00)

Packaging-I love how attractive the mirrored black compact looks. Although it feels sturdy, I do have a fear of dropping it because I have a feeling it is going to break real easily. This powder also contains a little sponge to apply the product with for those times when one needs to perform touch ups.

Thoughts on product- I don't know why this powder is labeled as being translucent seeing as I do observe a bit of color in it. But I guess it's no biggie seeing as this does apply colorless and translucent on me. On the E.L.F. website, they claim that this powder "works on a wide variety of skin tones". I hope this is true and this  powder works for my lovely darker skin beauties. I love that this powder is finely milled, though it can get a bit messy sometimes as the powder is very soft. I apply this on my troublesome oil-prone areas like my forehead, nose, and chin using a fluffy powder brush. I don't like to use the sponge that comes with this because I don't think it is very sanitary. I put this on at 8:30 AM when I am applying my makeup for school and it stays on throughout the whole school day until I get home at about 6:30 PM. I don't really bring this powder, or any powder with me to school to use for mid-day touch ups. I should, but I am just too lazy LOL! OK, here is the deal. This powder does an amazing job at keeping my forehead and chin matte and oil free all day. But when it comes to the nose area...it does not last at all! My nose becomes super oily within 3-4 hours of applying this matifying powder. I don't know why it matifyies the rest of my face, but not my nose? I guess I have a huge oil problem in that area. I think I am going to have to start bringing this E.L.F. powder with me to school to apply to my nose area midday.

Conclusion- I am happy to report that I have had no breakouts or any allergic reactions while using this matyfying powder, and when it comes to the amount to apply, I believe a little bit goes a long way. If I apply to much, then my face starts to look a bit cakey. Definitely less is more with this powder. Overall, I do like this powder seeing as it really helps control the oil on my forehead and chin area. But it is a bummer that it is not powerful enough for controlling the oil on my nose, which is a place that I need my oilies controlled the most. The only powder that most helps with the oil on my nose, has been the MAC Prep+Prime Transparent Finishing Powder ($22.00). I was really looking forward to finding a great affordable translucent setting powder, but alas, this E.L.F. Translucent Matifying Powder and I just weren't meant to be.

Have any of you tried this matifying powder from E.L.F.? What did you all think of it? Do any of you have suggestions for affordable options for me? Let me know in the comments section!

Fashion Crave: Holiday Celebration

Hey Lovelies!

How has this week been treating you? As you all know the holidays are just right around the corner and that means family get-togethers, lots of food, and of course-parties and celebrations! When I attend parties and such, I always go for comfort when it comes to style. But this year, I want to change all that. I want to get dolled up, and look elegant. Lucky for all of us, there are plenty of fun outfits and inspirations out there that can help us when it comes to determining what to wear in these special occasions.

Here is an outfit I put together using Polyvore. When I think of holidays, the color red, satin/shiny fabric, and fun accessories come to mind. What pieces of clothing do you like to wear when it comes to dressing for holiday get-togethers and celebrations?

What better way to keep warm than with a chic, pop of color red coat? I love it! I think colors really spruce up any neutral outfit and I love coats that have their own uniqueness. In this case, that would be the addition of the fun ruffles. Ruffles, or any detailing on outerwear, changes the piece from basic to fun.

I absolutely adore the look of this dress! I think it is definitely appropriate for a holiday party. Who can resist that beautiful laced bodice detailing? That hint of detail adds just the perfect unexpected touch to this outfit. I also really like that the dress defines the waist, and it is one shoulder. Very chic!

I question as I write this post, why have I not invested in nude pumps? I love how it is said that nude colored heels are great for elongating legs. We all could use a little more leg can't we? LOL! I know I would :) I think nude pumps are a great neutral that would work with any outfit, any color. OK, I am adding nude pumps to my holiday shopping list!

Clutches are very handy when it comes to going out for the night. I know I like them when I just don't want to be tugging a huge purse with me for the rest of the night. Not comfy to say the least. When it comes to clutches, I believe that they should have some personality to them. Weather they contain pops of bright colors, glitter, lace, or faux croc texture-like this clutch by Asos has, clutches should make a bold statement to the outfit.

When it comes to dressing up, of course you can't forget the jeweled accessories! They are the fun part. Since the dress has the lace detail going for it, I think it is best to keep accessories simple as not to run the risk of having the piece compete with the dress detailing. These dangling crystal-like ones are perfect for adding that touch of elegance to the outfit.

This part is optional.  If you don't want to bling out the outfit too much, then the earrings alone as jewelry accessory is enough. But i think it's always fun to add a few bracelets into the mix, such as this gorgeous set of three bracelets. They are very pretty, and they look super shiny too. I love shiny accessories for the holidays :)
