Look Of The Day: A Summer Night Of Smokes

Hey Beauties!

Here is yet another look of the day...or look for the night, as I find this look more appropriate for the night. But who cares? I would rock this look in the daytime as well :) Smokey eyes don't scare me LOL! For this look I created a silver and black smokey eye, soft bronzed cheeks, and pale nude lips. I made sure to keep the face makeup very minimal because I wanted all the attention to be on the mysterious smoked out eyes.

Check out the pictures below. I hope you all enjoy and have a great a superb Thursday...Don't fret loves, the weekend is just right around the corner :)

Products that I could do without...

Hey Dolls!

Have you ever been so intrigued with a product and you end up buying it and taking it home with you, only to find out in the end that it did not perform how you expected it would? I can't count how many times I have purchased products that simply never gave me the WOW factor and did not have the ability to impress me. Ahhh the perks of curiosity when it comes to trying out new beauty items. I suffer from that sorta curiosity...I need a cure, is there a doctor in the house?

Here is my list of products that are in the "never used" makeup stash LOL!

Sephora Colorful Mono Eyeshadow in Pearl N 05

I purchased this Sephora eyeshadow probably 2-3 years ago I don't know if it is available in Sephora anymore. But I think they re-vamped their whole eyeshadow line too. There is a whole bunch of this shadow left in the pot, as if I have never used it. This is a beautiful deep blue that contains very fine shimmers that don't really show up when you apply the shadow. I even think it is a dead on color dupe for MAC Deep Truth shadow. Pigmentation of this shadow performed poorly. I thought I was going to get a deep blue pop of rich color, but instead it just look faded and washed out when I applied. I wonder if the new Sephora eye shadows have more, rich pigment to them...Have any of you tried Sephora eyeshadows? which colors are your favorites?

E.L.F. Liquid Eyeliner in Black, Stardust, and Pearl ($1.00 each)

I am not much of a fan of liquid eyeliners but I had to give these a shot when I spotted the set at Target a few months ago which retailed for $3.00. If you want to see my review on these and swatches, click HERE. I thought these liners would be great, but the consistency was very runny, it felt very wet and it would take forever to dry. Not to mention the streaking that I endured when I tried applying these.

E.L.F. Dup Eyeshadow Cream ($1.00 each)

These cream shadows are great bases for eye shadows. The only gripe I have with these? They crease on me like crazy-even if I apply Urban Decay primer potion underneath. I think I blame the creasing in part due to my greasy lids. My lids oil up like crazy!

L.A. Girl Mega Pearl Eyeshadows in Orange Dream and Strawberry Daiquiri ($1.99? each)

I purchased both of these shadows in a beauty supply store at a mall in New Jersey and although the colors are so pretty and I love the shimmer these have, the pigmentation is very poor. When I applied these on my lids, all I saw was a lot of shimmer and a faint wash of the colors. After awhile, I find myself asking...where did the color go?

Have any of you tried any of the products mentioned above? What are some of your products that you can live without? Let me know in the comments section, I want to hear your thoughts :)

Look Of The Day: Summer Nights Teals and Blues

Hey Lovelies!

Here is another look of the day post. I had just gotten another Wet n' Wild Color Icon eyeshadow palette in Pride ($4.99). Pride contains gorgeous blues, greens, teals, and whites that compliment each other beautifully. As with all color icon palettes, this one contains 3 mattes and 3 shimmers. I am happy to report that all of the colors in the Pride eyeshadow palette are VERY pigmented.

For this look of the day I went with a blue/teal eye and paired it with a nude glossy lip, dramatic winged out eyeliner, and soft peach cheeks. I am very happy with how this look turned out, I can see this look working for nights out on the town with your friends and loved ones :) At night I like to spice things up with my makeup and really take it up a notch LOL!

Here are pictures of the look as well as products used listed below. Thanks for stopping by Amores!

Look Of The Day: Lime Summer Margarita Anyone?

Happy Monday Chicas y Chicos!

I hope you all had a fab and restful weekend. I know I did...but enough rest for me, this week I am getting my boot-ay back to the gym. I am going to work extra hard this week (my goal is to go at least 4 times this week) because I ate very *delightfully* this weekend. LOL! What I have been loving lately is running on the treadmill. I remember when I started the gym, I couldn't even run on the treadmill for 2 minutes without getting tired and stopping. Now I can run much longer. The most I have ran was 25 minutes-without stopping or getting tired! It goes to show that a little exercise does the whole body good, inside and out. My goal this week is to run at least 30-35 minutes.

Any-hoodles, here is a look of the day I did last night. Yes, I brought back the bold, bright lip...my how I have missed thee. LOL! I paired the bright coral lipstick with shimmery gold and green eyes. I don't know why, but these color combos reminded me of a margarita-hence the title of the post LOL!

Here are some pictures as well as products used listed below them.

Product Rave: Dove Deep Moisture Nourishing Body Wash

How is your Saturday night going? Got anything exciting planned? I'm just going to spend it at home relaxing and watching TV re-runs of Man v. Food on the Travel Channel. I am so in love with that show. I love how the host, Adam, takes on food challenges. So fun!

I am a body wash junkie! I love trying out new body washes and seeing how they measure up to others that I have tried in the past. I stopped by my local CVS the other day and I purchased the much highly raved about Dove Deep Moisture Nourishing Body Wash ($5.99). These body washed contain nutrium moisture (TM) which is a blend that consists of 100% natural moisturizers. The body wash absorbs into your skin and it works to replenish your skin as well, where it needs it the most. There were other different scents of the Dove body wash available as well, such as the formula for those who have more sensitive skin. I decided to go with the original.

I love how this body wash smells. It reminds me of the smell of the original Dove soap bar. It smells clean, and fresh. The smell is not offensive at all to me. If you are looking for a body wash that lathers very well, then look no further because this thick, creamy goodness lathers a whole lot. I loved the feeling my skin got when I was applying this body wash- the whole experience was so amazing. My bathroom smelled delish, and I immediately noticed how soft my skin was. And I was not disappointed when I hopped out of the shower and dried myself up. My skin was left feeling soft, and touchingly smooth. I even smelled the scent of the body wash on my skin as well.

Something that I noticed (and really surprised me) was that my elbows are usually always really dry and rough when I come out of the shower-resulting in me applying lotion to them so they can be well moisturized because other body washes just couldn't handle my dry and rough elbows. But when I used this body wash my elbows were not dry at all! I did not even need to apply lotion on them. I was amazed. Dove body wash demonstrated to me just how effective this product is when it comes to moisturizing. I will definitely repurchase this body wash by Dove. I love the moisturizing properties it contains, my skin loves it, and this stuff works really well for me.

What are your favorite body washes? Have any of you tried the dove body washes? Let me know in the comments section, I would love to read your thoughts :)

Aldo STENN Wedges

Hey Dolls!

As promised, here are some pics of my new favorite summer staple-wedges! These are the Stenn wedges ($75.00) I purchased from Aldo last night. These are my first ever Aldo shoes and I am pretty excited about them. I love the neutral color of the sandals (they are available in gray as well). Neutral colored sandals are great because they go with anything and everything.

One thing I noticed about these sandals is that they are super high (duh Alina, obviously LOL!). They are 4.5 inches high. They do help in adding height to my already 5"6 frame. So if you are one who is looking for height, these babies definitely deliver. The soles are made of rubber which is great because it helps prevent any slips and falls. Knowing me, I am pretty clumsy so this is a huge plus-especially with wedges as high as these. I love the gold details on the sandals as well. So pretty and chic is I do say so myself :) I wonder if these wedges are going to kill my feet? LOL! I will officially know the answer to that question when I finally wear them out for the first time next weekend (crosses fingers).

Click all images to enlarge (please pardon my messy room):

Thanks for stopping by loves! What do you all think of wedges? Are they on your fashion must haves list for summer? Let me know!

MAC To The Beach-Get-Away Bronze

Hey Beauties!

I stopped by my MAC store yesterday and had to purchase the other blush that was released with the to the beach collection, Get-Away Bronze. I have read so many things about how this blush is perfect for all skin tones but I was interested in the fact that for those with fair/light skin tones, Get-Away Bronze is considered to be rge perfect bronze blush that won't make the face look muddy or dirty, like some bronzers tend to do.

Get-Away Bronze is a frost, meaning that it does contain some sheen in it. This blush has the perfect hints of brown, and gold that would compliment everybody beautifully. The powder is very fine, and easily blended. It contains very fine golden shimmers. The golden shimmer does show up on the cheeks a bit, but it is not too much or over pronounced at all. I just see a soft golden sheen on my cheeks-perfect for summer!
I like to apply this blush with a stippling brush. I find that by using a stippling brush, it makes applying this product goof-proof and it helps blend the color seamlessly into your skin.

Have any of you tried Get-Away Bronze? Let me know how you feel about it :) Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you all enjoyed!

My MAC Box

Hey Dolls!

I hope your weekend is going well :) What shakin' in your neck of the woods? This weekend has been somewhat relaxing for me. I am most definitely enjoying this beautiful warm weather here in New York. I am so excited because yesterday I went to Aldo and I bought the cutest wedges ever. As you all know, wedges are very in for the summer-something I am happy about because wedges add height without killing your feet like heels do. I will post pictures of the wedges later on today, so be on the lookout for that upcoming post :)

I was super bored last night and it was driving me nuts. So what is a girl to do when she is bored out of her mind? Get her arts and crafts on of course! LOL! I was feeling somewhat creative last night and I came up with a MAC box-a box that contains only MAC products. I have been building up some sort of a MAC collection for some time now and I don't know why I felt this need to separate it from my other cosmetics (weird, I know LOL!).

This MAC box was super easy to do.

Ingredients:
1. cardboard box- I used an old digital camera box that was lying around
2. glue- I used a glue stick-less messy
3. Scissors
4. Construction Paper- I cut them to size and glued it on sections of the box
5. Markers or stickers....anything you want to decorate

Do any of you get creative and arts and craftsy when it comes to cosmetics or any beauty products? Let me know in the comments section. I would love to hear your stories :)

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you all enjoyed!

Nail Swatches

Hey Beauties,

How is this lovely Friday treating you all? I hope you are all having a great day. Anything exciting planned for the weekend?

I wanted to show you all 2 recent nail colors that I have purchased at my local Duane Reade store.

Here are the swatches:

Wet n' Wild, Wild shine nail color in Sunny Side Up

This is a gorgeous cream medium orange that is perfect for summer. I love how this color looks but I don't think I am too fond of how it looks on my hands. But I am going to be sporting this gorgeous orange on my toes for sure. This would make a great pedicure color :) In the swatch I applied two coats and application was so delightful. No streaks, air bubbles, etc...love it! For $1.00, this nail polish is a great buy and everybody needs a creamy orange in their nail polish stash, no?

Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Nail Color in Mellow Yellow

Ok dolls, I have been on a hunt for the perfect yellow nail polish as I realized that I did not have any kind of yellow in my nail polish stash. I saw this color and I fell in love! I immediately thought-PERFECT SUMMER MANI! This is the deal. The color is gorgeous...but the application process, not so much. I don't know if it is just me or what, but applying this polish was a mission. I tried to apply it every way possible but I felt the formula was too thick, it took forever to dry, and if you don't have your nail polish application game plan on point, then it is super easy to messily apply this polish. As you can see on my ring finger in the pic-gloopy mess. In the picture above, I applied 3 coats of the polish.
The soft pastel, yellow cream is gorgeous. But application process was a pain. I find this weird because I purchased the shade wet cement from Sally Hansen's Xtreme Wear nail polish and that one applied beautifully. What went wrong with Mellow Yellow? Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks for stopping by lovelies :) I hope you all enjoyed!

Look Of The Day: Purple Delights

Hey Dolls!

Happy Wednesday...almost halfway till the weekend finally arrives! I hope your day is off to a great start. Let's make today a great day okay? (raises cup). I go by this motto: Live everyday like it is your last. I think everybody needs to stop caring about what others think, and live for themselves. We only have one life to live right? So let's get on up and do what makes us happy :)

Here is another look of the day ( I know yall' I am on a roll with these LOTD. Ahhh, the benefits of summer vacation LOL!). For this look, I wanted to do something purple. I can't help it, purple is one of my favorite colors when it comes to eye looks. I just think it looks really good on everybody, and it brings out the color of my eyes :) I paired the eye with Blooming Lovely lipstick from the MAC Give Me Liberty Of London collection. But I think this eye look would have been better paired with a nude or more pink lip. Blooming lovely is sort of a milky lavender/pink mushed together.

Here are some pictures and products used listed below. Thank you all for stopping by and I hope you all enjoy!

Product Review: Olay Daily Facials Express

Hey Lovelies!

I hope you all had a fabulous Memorial Day weekend. I didn't really do much. I just stayed in and relaxed a lot. It's funny because, I was looking forward to school being over and the summer starting for me-but now that school is out for the summer, I kind of want it back LOL! I guess it's because I am always used to having assignments and stuff to work on. Ahhh, before I know it, the end of August will arrive and school will be back in session.

When I get home from school in the evenings, or when I get home from hanging with buddies at night, I am super lazy when it comes to taking off my makeup at night. Therefore, I am a huge fan of makeup removing wipes because they always come in handy, and if you are lucky-you can find one that does a great job at doing what it is intended to do. I can't tell you how many times I have purchased makeup remover wipes and they would not take off much of my makeup, and/or they were never moist enough for me.

If you all have been avid readers of this blog, then you all know I am in love with the Garnier Nutritioniste Oil-Free Detoxifying Wet Cleansing Towelettes. These babies do it all for me. They smell great, and they are very efficient when it comes to removing all the makeup gunk off of my face. But, as usual I want to keep trying and testing new products that will top the ones that are very high on my list. In comes Olay Daily Facials Express ($6.99). I am not very familiar with Olay skincare, other than their moisturizer so I decided to buy these wipes up since I ran out of my usual Garnier towelettes. I picked up the sensitive skin wipes. Olay also has the normal skin type available as well. I must say, Olay has really impressed me with these wipes. (click all images for larger view).

Pros:
1. Fragrance Free
2. Alcohol Free
3. The wipes are really big in size. One wipe is more than enough to remove everything
4. The wipes are Quilted. I like this feature because the texture helps with the lifting of the dirt and oil on the face and when I see all the remnants on the cloth after I use it, I literally can see all of the makeup that it has removed. I don't even see all of that much makeup removed when I use my Garnier ones...hmmm.
5. My face feels super clean and moisturized after use. Also, it does not leave a sticky film on my face.
6. There are 30 cloths in a pack
7. Contains Vitamin E which is a great moisturizer
8. Dermatologist/Ophthalmologist tested

Con:
The only con that comes to mind when it comes to these Olay cloths is that when I try and remove my mascara or any eye makeup, it kind of causes them to sting a bit. I just try and be really careful not to get the cloth really close to the rims of the eyes, and I remove my eye makeup in a gentle manner.

Overall, I really like these cloths and I will definitely repurchase when I run out. They are very gentle on my skin, these cloths have not caused me to break out, and they do the job of removing makeup fairly well. I am very impressed. I don't know if I can say that they are better than my Garnier makeup remover wipes, but I will say that it's a close call and it's right up there with it.

Have any of you tried these cloths my Olay? Let me know if you have or it not, if you are interested in trying them.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!
